First of all, I'm really happy to see Medium exploring this topic and asking for community input. I believe it's important for writing and art to remain fundamentally human-driven, AI-assisted. AI tools can help writers and artists brainstorm and be used as a fun creative exercise, but I think the human experience and an understanding of what it's like to be physically present in the world is essential to writing and art and will remain so.

I'd like to see Medium's policies driven by values like transparency, trust, agency, and equity, and I'd love to see the Code of Ethics that some others have suggested. It could be helpful for anything AI-generated to have some sort of stamp or mark so it can be easily identified by readers.

We must all remember that AI tools are developed by humans and based on the data sets that humans input into the systems, which are often biased. AI can do a lot of good and could change the creative landscape in really interesting and exciting ways, but we need to remember that, in the end, this is still human to human work with technology as the intermediary and to all be cognizant of how it is affecting us.
